Uitvlugt Port Mourant 27 Year Old Tasting Notes

Picture this: A Jacuzzi in the garden surrounded by pine trees. Bathing caps keep long coconut-oiled hair out of the lavender-scented water and away from the flotilla of rubber ducks.

Colour: Apple juice.

Nose: Cinnamon-dusted pineapple en papillote and barbecued chops. Parmesan-crusted rodizio pork on metal skewers with a chrome pot of chimichurri sauce. Pineapple and banana fritters in syrup with dulce de leche ice cream and a coffee pot of rich coffee with hot cream and sugar crystals on the side. A newly polished silver vase of peonies, tulips and daffodils.

Palate: Mouth coating. The esters sing along with grilled banana, apple slices and pineapple dipped in thick Manuka honey served in a rubber pot. Sage, lemon verbena, chocolate black, coffee and nut cake and liquorice and blackcurrant sweets.

Finish: Grandma's gingerbread brushed with butter and dipped in spiced honey with star anise and cloves.
